Welcome to a history-in-the-making!
A group of young Filipino publishers and producers based in Hong Kong, Canada and the Philippines, is in their final leg of an international tour for the first-ever Filipino documentary of this new century. More than five years in-the-making and covering at least thirty-eight (38) international cities in twenty eight (28) countries, the Mga Bagong Bayani - 200 Filipino Achievers Overseas, will feature 200 top overseas Filipinos highlighting their best and most recent achievements in the field of business, science and technology, politics, military, literature, medicine, entertainment and other activities that would inspire current and future Filipinos of this new millennium. This project started in 1998 and is scheduled to be printed and launched in June 2008.
A special chapter of the Mga Bagong Bayani will feature the Philippines' economic heroes, the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), who saved the country from the worst effects of the Asian financial crisis in 1998-1999. Currently, there are at least 8 million overseas Filipinos working or staying in about 150 countries.
To date, the Documentary Team already has interviewed/documented Filipino achievers in Canada (Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal), West Coast United States (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Nevada), upstate New York, Hawaii (Guam and Saipan included), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona), United Kingdom (Stansted, London), France, Italy (Rome, Milan), Brussels (Belgium, Gent), Germany (Hanover, Berlin, Frankfurt, Potsdam, Heidelberg), Switzerland, Vienna, Hungary, Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Dubai, Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia (Sydney, Melbourne), and Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka). Our next stop is Mainland China (Xiamin, Beijing, Guangzhou), downtown New York, Washington DC, New Jersey, Chicago and Mexico City before its final printing.
Mabuhay!!
